Photographers on the Other Side of the Lens

PR photography — parkrun event coverage

We spend a lot of time behind the camera. So when Darren and Julie headed to Las Vegas to get married, it was a welcome change to be on the other side of the lens for once.

Las Vegas for a wedding might sound extravagant, but it’s actually one of the most straightforward places in the world to get married. For anyone who has spent years photographing elaborate UK weddings with military-precision timings and weather-dependent outdoor shots, that simplicity has a certain appeal. Sun, ceremony, done.

America through a photographer’s eyes

\n\n\n\n

The trip extended well beyond Vegas. Travelling through America as a photographer is a strange experience: you can’t help but see everything in terms of light, composition, and potential images. The scale of the landscapes, the quality of the light in the desert, the sheer graphic boldness of American signage and architecture. It’s visually relentless in the best way.

It’s also a useful reminder of why we do this. Photography isn’t just a job; it’s a way of paying attention. When you’re not working, you notice how many moments are worth capturing, and how fleeting they are.

On the subject of wedding photography

Wedding photography is its own specialist world, and one we have a lot of respect for. Julie King Photography handled that side of things for us, and if you’re looking for someone to capture your wedding properly, she’s well worth a look.

Back in the studio now, recharged, and ready for whatever the next brief brings. Sometimes you need to step away from the camera to remember why you love it.
