Darren Shipman
Darren began his career assisting in one of Birmingham’s leading advertising studios, working on major commercial campaigns and creative projects for top agencies. That early grounding in advertising photography shaped the technical rigour and brief-literate approach he brings to every project today.
After several years in the advertising world, Darren moved to a studio in Redditch before establishing dpix Creative Photography in 1995. In the three decades since, he has built a reputation across commercial, product, advertising and food photography — working with agencies, brand managers and direct clients across the UK.
Darren has a particular passion for food photography, and regularly collaborates with professional food stylists to produce work that is visually compelling and true to the product.
Julie King
Julie brings over 35 years of professional photography experience to the dpix team — and has been with the studio for more than 25 years. She joined as second photographer and assistant, and has grown into an integral part of every project dpix takes on.
Her experience spans commercial and advertising photography, corporate and brand portraits, food photography and lifestyle shoots. She is known for her imaginative approach, her attention to detail, and a genuine ability to put people at ease — qualities that show clearly in the portraits and people photography she produces.
Julie’s work across brand, portrait and food photography has made her a trusted pair of hands for agencies and clients who need a photographer who brings both skill and calm to shoot day.
