We’ve worked with a large, well-established funeral business and coffin manufacturer for a number of years. The brief is unusual. The approach is exactly the same as any other product shoot.
Commercial photography covers a wide range of briefs — and not all of them are predictable. One that comes up regularly for us is product photography for a coffin manufacturer based in the North of England. We photograph their range both on-site at their factory and here in our Bromsgrove studio when new products come through.
Product photography for a coffin manufacturer
It’s product photography, approached with exactly the same professionalism and attention to detail as any other brief. The subject matter requires a respectful approach, but the photographic challenges are the same as any other product: how do you show this object accurately, attractively and in a way that serves the client’s commercial purpose? In this case, one of our images appeared on the front cover of a client brochure — which is as strong a use of product photography as you can get.
The variety of briefs we take on is one of the things that keeps this work genuinely interesting. If you’ve got an unusual project — however unexpected — we’d genuinely like to hear about it.
