Food photography of Salads for new company Launch.
When needing to photograph some food for a new client, a marketing company contacted us to take some food photography shots, there was a mix of food and backgrounds, as they would have several uses. It made common sense to take a lot of shots in the same session from a cost and time perspective.
It was nice to be taking the shots in the studio as shooting Food photography on location can be more difficult, as there are certain items of equipment that need to be in the photographer’s tool kit that more often than not would be left out of for example industrial photography set up. The lighting in that case would be more general and a lot less controlled than for food photography.
Photographers’ eye
A well equipped food photography studio should have the correct equipment when food photography shots but as it is up close and personal a keen eye for detail is paramount. It is true to say that some of the things in the shot if not quite right can be “fixed” when coming back to the studio in software such as photoshop but that is prevention rather than cure. As we are experts at photographing food we tend to take so many things for granted, which is great as we can almost prepare stuff in our sleep then make then fine tuning and adjustments just prior to capturing the final image, leaving just the bare minimum to do post shoot.
About this shoot
These images form part of a series of images of food photography of images of salads, taken in the Dpix studio Bromsgove, for a company launch. The food was prepared by the client who had very clear ideas of the style and mood that they wanted to achieve in their food photography shoot. There were various images taken during the photoshoot of salads, nuts and other healthy food options. The client brought assorted backgrounds with them, adding character and atmosphere. With the use of some “natural lighting” via studio flash, some very pleasing results were achieved in the session.
